About Elaine
Welcome to Elaine's Thoroughbred Art!
Originally from the Midwest and having lived on a farm as a girl, Elaine’s interest in horse racing was inspired by an uncle who loved the sport.
Later, in her early teens, she saw an artist’s rendering of a Thoroughbred and told her Mother “Someday I will create art like that.”
Elaine experimented with different art media and found that pastels provided the richness of color and texture which best conveyed her subject on paper. She learned the art and developed her own unique style which captures the intelligence and strength of the Thoroughbred with exacting detail.
An avid fan of the sport and a student of horse racing history and genealogy, she has tapped into the legacy of horse racing to depict champions of the past as well as the stakes winners of the present.
A resident of San Diego, California for a number of years, Elaine currently enjoys her trips to Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar where she studies the new contender’s characters and personalities so that she can share her personal view of these magnificent animals with you.
